(Seymour, WI) August 13, 2021 Race Report- In a feat that can be only be called extraordinary, Seymour’s “Mighty” Mike Mullen was victorious in the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars for the 3rd week in a row at Outagamie Speedway presented by Klink Equipment & Elite Coatings Inc. 128 cars checked in to do battle at the fairgrounds. There were 25 IMCA Modifieds, 30 IMCA Stock Cars, 30 IMCA Sport Mods, 24 IMCA Sport Compacts and 19 Unified Street Stocks.
Action was red flagged during IMCA Sport Compact feature with a wreck that saw Brett Deprez and Michael Brehmer make heavy contact with the wall and barrel roll. Both drivers were ok but the same couldn’t be said for their race cars.
Rob Charapata paced the opening lap of the IMCA Modified headliner until Jordan Bartz took the top spot on lap 2. Bartz pulled away with Jason Ebert trailing. Mike Mullen methodically worked his way from row 6, into third midway through the contest. Mullen first disposed of the Ebert for the runner up spot, then set his sights on Bartz. Mullen blasted to the cushion to the back bumper of Bartz. With the duo running the same groove, Mullen switched up his tactics, hugging the low side on a very wide racing surface. With 5 laps remaining Mullen made the passed for the lead and never looked back to score his fifth feature of the season. Bartz had her best run of the season to place second, Ebert was third, Kurt Moeller placed fourth and Wyatt Block Jr took fifth. The contest went green to checker.
In the IMCA Stock Cars it was Darren Otto getting the jump on the field. Otto ran the top side Mike Mullen, Rod Snellenberger and Brandon Czarapata gave chase. Mullen was the first to break free, running down Otto, as they battled door to door. On lap 9 Mullen slipped by for the top spot. A caution on lap 10 bunched the field but for the 3rd week in a row, no one was able to match the speed of Mullen as he scored the win and clean sweep. Point leader Czarapata was second, Snellenberger took third, Otto held onto fourth and Brett Wenzel completed the top five.
Cole Magnin took the lead from his pole position of the IMCA Sport Mods as “Superman” Jeff Schmuhl slipped his way through traffic. Schmuhl worked his way to second and pounced on Magnin, taking the lead on the 9th lap. There was no kryptonite this week as Schmuhl scored his first win of the season and his first ever at Outagamie Speedway. Tyler Sobiesczyk placed a strong second, Magnin was third, point leader Ryan Schmidt took fourth and James Bohm placed fifth.
In Unified Dirt Street Stock action, it was David Hoerning outlasting Trey Van Straten to score his first win of the season. Van Straten placed a hard charging second, title contender Paul White was third, Josh McDonald took fourth and Justin Jacobsen completed the top five. Point leader James Fletcher encountered problems and didn’t finish.
Jeremy Czarapata led all the laps of the IMCA Sport Compact feature, crossing the checkers first but his racer failed post-race tech, handing the win to Jake Peters. Justin Finlan took second, Bo white was third, point leader Tony Everard placed fourth and Thomas Schulte was fifth.
Our next night of racing is on Friday August 20, 2021 with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Sport Compacts and Unified Dirt Street Stocks. Only 3 point nights remain in the chase for the championship. Racing starts at 6:30pm
