History of Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Inc. (EWSC) Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Inc. (EWSC) was established after the 1959 race season by a group of drivers who formed the club and became its board of directors. The club began sanctioning races in May 1960 at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, WI. In 1966 the club began making weekly appearances on the asphalt oval at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, first racing on Thursday nights, and switching to Wednesday nights after discontinuing weekly shows in Chilton in 1974, eventually ending the association with 141 in 1981 after a membership vote. In 1972 EWSC membership was boosted as many of the Milwaukee Stock Car Racing Association also raced at the tracks in Plymouth & Chilton. Besides sanctioning weekly racing at Plymouth, Chilton & 141 Speedway, the club has sanctioned events at Beaver Dam, Slinger, and Fond du Lac to name a few. In 2004 the club was forced to move to a new home for the 2005 race season, as the Sheboygan County Fair Board decided to take over the promoting of races at Plymouth, forming Plymouth Dirt Track Racing. EWSC subsequently signed a contract with the Manitowoc County Fair Board to promote racing at the Manitowoc County Expo Grounds. EWSC brought the same divisions it had run at Plymouth. The program began on Saturday evenings, and moved to Fridays in 2008 with a major division shake up that brought Late Models & 360 Sprint Cars to Manitowoc Speedway on a weekly basis. With the sale of a large parcel of Exposition Grounds, including the racetrack and grandstands to the Meijer store chain in late 2015, Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car was once again left without a place to race upon completing the 2016 season. EWSC made it a season to remember, closing Manitowoc Speedway with 176 cars and over 2,100 fans in attendance on the final evening of racing. When 2 attempted deals with entities in Calumet County in early 2017 fell through, EWSC planned to sit out the 2017 season and regroup. The Outagamie County Fair Association changed that in short order as an introductory meeting led to a full meeting of the two groups. Twelve days later a contract was signed and Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC was formed. Machinery, equipment and personnel were quickly brought together and new partnerships were formed, with the first event of 2017 run on Memorial Day Weekend. A full slate of IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sport Modifieds & Sport Compacts, along with Street Stocks ran the program only 3 weeks after signing a contract and have continued put on a fantastic show since moving to Friday nights. The board and its members have continued to make improvements and look forward to celebrating the 60th year of EWSC in 2020.
